- Before you let the installer script do its work, you should know that:
-
- 1) If you already have ETC: assigned to a directory that contains a
- resolv.conf file, you should either remove this assign, or better:
- a) Create the directory where you want qmail installed.
- b) Create an "etc" directory here.
- c) Assign ETC: to the etc directory first, then add you usual assigns.
-
- 2) If you intend to use qmail on a network, you should be online during
- installation so the installer script can find the necessary information.
-
- 3) During installation, the installer script will add users, groups and
- services to your existing database. It currently doesn't check if they
- exist already, so check for duplicate definitions afterwards.
-
- 4) This installation script does not attempt to deinstall any existing mail
- system you may have.
-
- The installation script will generate some control files and create icons for
- them. By default, the default tool for these icons is Ed, allowing you to
- simply double click on any control file that you want to edit. If you want to
- use another editor, change the default tool of the "icons/controlfile" icon.
