  1. Before you let the installer script do its work, you should know that:

  3. 1) If you already have ETC: assigned to a directory that contains a
  4.    resolv.conf file, you should either remove this assign, or better:
  5.    a) Create the directory where you want qmail installed.
  6.    b) Create an "etc" directory here.
  7.    c) Assign ETC: to the etc directory first, then add you usual assigns.

  9. 2) If you intend to use qmail on a network, you should be online during
  10.    installation so the installer script can find the necessary information.
  11.  
  12. 3) During installation, the installer script will add users, groups and
  13.    services to your existing database. It currently doesn't check if they
  14.    exist already, so check for duplicate definitions afterwards.
  15.  
  16. 4) This installation script does not attempt to deinstall any existing mail
  17.    system you may have.

  19. The installation script will generate some control files and create icons for
  20. them. By default, the default tool for these icons is Ed, allowing you to
  21. simply double click on any control file that you want to edit. If you want to
  22. use another editor, change the default tool of the "icons/controlfile" icon.
